As usual, it was a blessing for us to be back on the road again this week for another spiritual adventure! We found ourselves praying the Rolling Rosary at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH) parish in Camden.
The Pilgrimage
It’s always a joy to be in Camden. For those familiar with this town, you know it is rich in history and has a distinct elegance that somehow only seems to be found in horse country. It’s hard not to love a place with tree-lined streets shaded by stately oaks and adorned with charming, old homes.
Rolling Rosary and Daily Mass
The day began with the Rolling Rosary. We prayed the five decades and meditated on their mysteries as we moved from place to place. Our stops included the municipal office complex, the hospital, an empty lot that once was home to an elementary school, and the historic and business districts. Of course, we also visited the communities around the OLPH parish church.
We concluded our time of intercessory prayer with noon mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. The mass was celebrated by Fr. John Zimmerman. It was an unexpected pleasure to have had a few minutes to meet him and get to know him before mass began.
A Steeplechase Lunch
After mass, we enjoyed lunch at the Steeplechase Sports Bar & Grill. It was wonderful! We would describe the experience as “great food and service with no pretense!” We opted for seafood, but the menu had an interesting mix of choices that included steak, hamburgers, sandwiches, and Greek food too. We hear they even offer swordfish from time to time.
Yes, we would recommend the Steeplechase Sports Bar & Grill without hesitation to anyone visiting Camden.

Pray For Fr. John
Fr. John and his parishioners were a joy to encounter. They truly were friendly and hospitable. Fr. John celebrated the mass with great reverence. He did an excellent job connecting the readings to a single theme with his homily, inviting further personal reflection.
We encourage all our friends who might read this article to remember Fr. John and Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish in their prayers. They are a great family doing an excellent job for the Kingdom of God in Camden and the communities around that wonderful town.
