Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.” (John 1:45-51)
OUR STORY …
Herman sat in his living room quietly. It was early in the morning, his favorite time of the day for thinking! Some days, it seemed like he could actually hear God’s voice. This was one of those mornings.
The little, orange mouse really wanted to be holy, but he wasn’t there yet. In fact, some days it seemed as if he might actually be losing ground. That’s when he remembered an important lesson he had learned from a wonderful, little book entitled The Biggest Lie in the History of Christianity (by Matthew Kelly).
Essentially, what Herman learned was that you really can’t live a holy life. You must settle for holy moments. A holy moment is an incredibly special encounter with God. We are to enjoy the moment, and when that moment comes to an end, we begin to work towards our next holy moment.
The way Herman understood it, if you live in the moment, you open the door for a holy life. In Herman’s home, mornings are a favorite time for holy moments.
IN THE BIBLE …
In today’s Gospel reading, Jesus sees Nathanael coming towards Him with Philip. He announces that a man with no duplicity was approaching. Basically, the Lord said Nathanael was a holy man.
Of course, nobody was any more surprised about this than Nathanael. He wanted to know how Jesus even knew who he was. It didn’t take Nathaniel long, however, to figure out that Jesus was the Messiah. Nathanael had a holy moment which changed his life forever.
LIFE GOES ON …
When you’re seeking God (Matt 6:33) and hoping to live a holy life, don’t underestimate the power and potential of a single moment. We arrive in eternity moment by moment.
Pause a moment today to consider your life. We especially want to thank our brother Earl for modeling holy moments for us.
COOL2B …
That’s our story, and we’re sticking to it. It’s cool to be Catholic. COOL2B!
In Christ.

Thank you for your Holy Moments Frank, you are a fountain of opportunity to experience Holy Moments as you pen the promptings of the Spirit into directions to Heaven, amen 🙏
