Forgive and Retain

We know what it means to forgive sins, but what does it mean to retain them? Could it be as subtle as not being available to forgive them?

We’re learning new things about the Church and the sacraments as they are being withheld from many Catholics for the sake of our mortal flesh. What we’re learning is that our beloved Church should never again withhold from the sheep that which Christ gave to the Church for our benefit and His sake.

This is not new for Jesus. He asked His disciples what does it benefit a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul (Matt 16:26, Mark 8:36). He also told them earlier not to worry about someone (something) who can kill the body, but instead, pay attention to the One who can kill the body and the soul (Matt 10:28).

We should already know these things, but it’s always a good thing to have regular reminders so these principles are with us when crisis does arise. That’s not the time to begin wondering what it is that we believe or what we should do about what we believe.

It’s cool to be Catholic. COOL2B!

In Christ!
