As each one has received a gift, use it to serve one another as good stewards of God’s varied grace. (1 Pt 4:10)
We’re playing with our readers a little in this cartoon, and we’re inviting you to join in on the fun too. But first, let’s look at the Bible message behind this cartoon.
FROM THE BIBLE …
The Bible tells us that each of us has different and special gifts. God gave them to us so we could serve each other. Our gifts reflect God’s grace which is varied.
Not only is it okay to be a little different, but in fact, that’s God’s intention for each of us. Individually, we are fragments in need of other fragments. But together we are complete in Him. We were made for community (1 Cor 1:10).
IN THIS CARTOON …
We see two characters who are certainly different! They are different from each other and from the world around them as well. We know they are Catholics because of the crucifix in the background. But that’s not the whole story. We’ve hidden one more, little secret right in front of you.
If two out of three people are different, what does that make the third person? Different, of course! So the gagline itself reveals to us that we are all different — and while that’s laughable, it’s also serious business.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION …
Click on the Bible verses we have shared in this article and read them. Reflect on those things that make you different. Contemplate the good and not-so-good aspects they present to you in your life. And then pray.
Pray about how God might actually want you to use the very thing that makes you different. Pray about how those things can actually make you special. And ask God how you can you use your different qualities to glorify God, to bless other people, to bring unimaginable joy into your life.
When you find these answers and understand their meaning, you will know your life’s direction. Move forward with God seeking His kingdom and righteousness (Mt 6:33). Surprise yourself with what you’re going to find. And always, delight in its meaning!
CATHOLIC COOL …
It’s cool to be Catholic, folks. It’s Catholic Cool! It’s pretty cool to be who you are too!
